Ray "Chico" Hopkins had one cap for Wales when he came on as a replacement for Gareth Edwards at Twickenham in 1970. Wales trailed throughout the match until Ray scored a late try which JPR Williams converted to win the match for Wales. It was this match and Chico's efforts that inspired Max Boyce to write his most famous song 'Hymn & Arias'. He went on the 1971 Lions tour where he also replaced Edwards in the first test, the result ending in a 9-3 win for the Lions who went on to become the first British team to win a series in New Zealand. Chico has the enviable distinction of being unbeaten against the All  Blacks having also starred in the 1972 Llanelli victory over Kirkpatrick's touring team.
