A specially prepared embroidered fully signed England jersey signed by the England team including reserves that played in the England v  Holland RWC qualifying match at the Alfred McAlpine Stadium in Huddersfield on 14th November 1998. The players that have signed this jersey next to their embroidered names are as follows: 

Captain - Martin Johnson, Richard Cockerill, Mike Catt, Richard Hill, Jason Leonard, Danny Grewcock, Dan Luger, Tim Rodber, Neil Back, Matt Dawson, Ben Clarke, Graham Rowntree, Paul Grayson, Darren Garforth, Jeremy Guscott, Matt Perry, Nick Beal, Garath Archer, Martin Corry, Austin Healy, Phil Greening & Will Greenwood. Additional signatures without embroidered names are Clive Woodward & Phil de Glanville. 

A total of 24 signatures. This is a superb jersey for display with many English greats featured, it is sold together with a copy of the programme for this match which includes photos and profiles of the players and a certificate of authenticity.

MUNSTER JERSEY

A Munster replacements jersey, No18, circa 1980s, it is not known whether this jersey is game worn or not. The jersey, by O'Neills is a size 42". There are some minor nicks to the jersey but overall the condition is good. The jersey is sold together with a certificate guaranteeing it's authenticity.

Illustrated above - 'Buks Marais in his blazer & Rik van Schoor on his way to scoring the first try of the tour

This 1951/2 Springboks tour jersey was worn by 'Buks' Marais during the tour, the following extract is a profile of 'Buks' from the post tour book "The Fourth Springboks 1951-1952" by R.K. Stent.

"Franswa Pierre Marais is known as Buk’s, which has a meaning like ‘short but powerful’,  but though powerful, Marais is not short and certainly looks taller than the 5 feet 9 ¾  inches, which appear in the record sheets.

He looks more mature too, than the twenty-four years old he is as this is written. He was twenty and at the Paarl  training college when he first entered representative football for Boland in 1948, and the following year he attended the springbok trials in Pretoria without apparently making any great impression on the selectors, who did not include him in their short list of thirty-two, issued at the end. But when the All Blacks met Boland in the second match of their tour he must have pleased them with his defence and the way he beat the New Zealand star wing, Meates.

Marais had not expected to be included in the test side when it came to be chosen five weeks later – ‘ I never gave it the smallest thought’ – and he was on holiday at Montagu Baths when the news came through. Even then he did not listen to the broadcast message which gave the names of the team, and the first intimation he had was when one of the coloured workers at the hotel, at which he was staying , ran into a crowded room and said : ‘Baas Buks, you are a Springbok!’ Buks recalls: ‘ I could not say a word. I did not know how it happened. I did not even get the ball in the match at Wellington ( Boland game) !’ He had forgotten how he had snapped it up twice to beat Meates.

Those with this 1951-2 team will remember Buks as much for his great love of biltong as for anything else. He was rarely seen without a knife slicing a piece off a solid looking chunk of this dried meat. It may have helped him put on the stone (from 171 to 185) he did on the tour. A keen cricketer and tennis player in the summer months Marais is a farm implement salesman by profession."

The jersey is a size 42" and is made/supplied by Wikhams of Johannesburg. There is some fading to the colour which is only to be expected for a jersey this age and there is some fraying to the reinforcement stitching to the shouders. Overall the jersey is in good condition with no major faults and is sold together with a certificate guaranteeing it's authenticity.
